John is the Head of Humanities at Fahan School. He loves the challenge of teaching senior students who are thoughtful and serious about big ideas. He believes that Fahan has the right approach to education with its small classes, a community of students and staff who are partners in learning, and a wonderful natural environment in which to study. He believes that there is always space in education for both humour and music.
John has been a Setting Examiner, Marking Examiner and Moderation Leader for Year 11/12 Modern History. He has been a ‘Critic’ and marker for the Tasmanian Pre-Tertiary Ancient History and Philosophy Examinations. Between 2009 and 2011 John was the Lead Writer for the National Curriculum, History: Years 11 and 12. John is also a writer and Polar Historian and he has lectured in 'Antarctic History' for many years at the University of Tasmania.
