On a blustery cold evening in Hobart, the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania was transformed into a tropical oasis for the biennial P&F Dinner on Saturday 10 August. Over 80 parents and friends packed a room that was filled with palm trees, Hawaiian leis and colourful inflatables in a fitting ‘tropicana’ theme for the P&F’s major fundraiser for the year.
MC for the evening and parent to three Fahan girls, Tony Bradfield, embraced the theme in a grass skirt and colourful lei. Thanks to his energy and enthusiastic delivery, the live auctions were hotly contested, and the results of the raffle and silent auctions produced an incredible result with the event raising over $13,000! Fahan Principal, Penny Curran-Peters, addressed the audience and spoke of her joy in joining such a warm, caring community who were so welcoming in her first three weeks at the School.
Many guests wholeheartedly embraced the theme with some impressive flamengo suits and dress ups, as well as colourful Hawaiian shorts and incredible fruit hats that would rival Carmen Miranda’s best efforts.
P&F President, John Padas, said, “What a fantastic event! The spirit in the room so jovial and everyone came prepared to have a great time and spend well. We are so grateful to the wonderful parents, all the business and families who so generously donated to the event. The evening was a huge money-raising success and will make such a difference to what we can provide for all Fahan girls, who are ultimately the ones that benefit from the hard work of the P&F. I’d particularly like to thank the P&F Committee who worked tirelessly for months, with valuable assistance from the marketing team at Fahan, to organise this event and secure fantastic prizes for the auctions.”
Well done to all involved!
