On Saturday 1 June 2019, Fahan School Alumni came together to enjoy a waterside lunch on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne.
Those attending this year’s Melbourne event were alumni between the Class of 1953 and 1981. The ladies delighted in sharing stories with one another over canapes, a two-course lunch and cocktails at Ludlow Bar and Dining Room on Southbank.
Several of the group had travelled from interstate to attend the occasion which was hosted by Fahan School Principal, Tony Freeman. “One of the wonderful aspects of the Alumni events is that we all have a connection, whether we are familiar to one another or not. These reunions are an opportunity to reminisce, reconnect and build friendships that continue into the future.”
During lunch, the Alumni were delighted to hear of the School’s progress from Mr Freeman, who informed them of the significant activities over the past year. The academic, sporting and arts achievements of the current cohort of students were shared, as well as the progress of the building works in the Junior School and the new Archives room which is due for completion in Term Three.
The Melbourne reunion was Mr Freeman’s final alumni event as he moves closer to his retirement as Principal in July. In thanks for the ongoing support, friendship and loyalty to the School, Mr Freeman proposed a toast to the ladies over lunch, with Mrs Sabrina Merrick (nee Henry), returning the toast and thanking Mr Freeman for his wonderful contribution over the last 11 years.
